Currently redesigning my life, again.

1 01 2011

I am currently redesigning my life, again.

What’s happened in the past is that I have written all my inspired ideas on pieces of paper and put them in a book. Occasionally I would take out that book and re-inspire myself by looking at the entries.

That’s great and I love doing it but it doesn’t really go anywhere, there’s no forward motion.

I found a useful program for my iPod touch (my favorite writing and ideas storing implement). Called Omnifocus it is essentially a project management tool allowing the user to keep tabs on all their to-dos and time-framing them. However I use it as an ideas storing mechanism. ‘Projects’ are questions I ask myself, and the related actions within are the answers.

So what’s the difference between this and a notepad?

Well it’s more accessible, is close to hand, and allows me to add and delete items without it getting messy.

Ok, this works, but what about the problem of forward motion?

I don’t know myself how to take these sketches of thoughts and turn them into concrete work ideas. So what this Omnifocus app allows me to do is download all of them and send them to someone who CAN organise them. A coach.

A coach takes raw talent and potential and molds it into something that works. Take a sports coach. The young footballer has the talent, passion and ideas to do really well but he will never make it to the big leagues without a guide.

A coach will take these ideas and focus them down a path of action.

Check out my posts at to keep up to date with how I am doing.

Thanks for reading 🙂
